What is the difference between Dreamweaver CS5 and Dreamweaver CS4?

For people considering joining oursCurso DreamweaverCS3but have CS5 at home or in the office - most of the topics covered in our CS3 course are applicable to CS5 software. Certain commands or tools are found in different menu items and the user interface is slightly different. The two-day course is at a Getting Started level, covering the basics common to most versions of Dreamweaver software.

Here are 14 new features in Dreamweaver CS5 listed on Adobe's website. The endpoint is a list of depreciated features:

  1. Support for PHP based content management systems
With authoring and testing support for third-party PHP-based content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Joomla! and Drupal, Dreamweaver CS5 offers a professional development environment for creating robust websites. Dynamically linked files provide direct access to the assets required for these complex systems, including dynamically generated pages and content. The new Live View navigation allows you to explore the different states of your dynamic applications and pages, even those already deployed on a live server.
  2. dynamically linked files
The Dynamically Linked Files feature in Dreamweaver CS5 helps you access files and refresh pages faster, and simplify administrative tasks for complex sites. With a single click, you can instruct Dreamweaver to recognize all external files and scripts needed to assemble the page and display their filenames in the Related Files toolbar.
  3. Live view navigation
When live view navigation is enabled, not only can you see a page as viewed in standards-compliant browsers, but the links are active, allowing you to interact with server-side applications and dynamic data. In addition to the live rendered view of the page, Live Code highlights changes as they occur, allowing you to quickly identify dynamically loaded data or JavaScript-triggered code changes.
  4. Improved CSS tools
Both seasoned pros and beginners need to understand how page elements relate to each other and have the freedom to iterate and experiment with your page layouts in real time. With improved CSS tools and Live View, Dreamweaver CS5 gives you more control without leaving your editing environment, and even gives you the ability to view each link status and change text size—tasks that previously required a browser.
  5. The Inspection Order
Develop CSS-based layouts more efficiently and accurately by displaying the CSS box visually
Model properties, including padding, border and border, in detail without reading code or
This requires a separate third-party utility like Firebug.
  6. Enable/disable CSS
Quickly and easily disable and re-enable CSS properties directly from the CSS Styles panel in Dreamweaver CS5. Disabling a CSS property simply comments out the specified property without actually removing it, and the affected property no longer appears. This handy option to toggle CSS properties on and off, as well as the ability to inspect CSS, allows you to stay in your authoring environment throughout the development process, eliminating the time-consuming in-browser preview process and hassles of browser-based solutions be fixed tool. .
  7. Integration mit Adobe BrowserLab
Dreamweaver CS5 integrates with Adobe BrowserLab, one of CS Live's new online services, providing a fast and accurate solution for cross-browser compatibility testing. Whether you're new to web design or a seasoned pro, you can use BrowserLab to preview web pages and local content with multiple viewing and comparison tools, and customize browser suites to fit your project needs.
  8. Improved Subversion support
In Dreamweaver CS4, Subversion support was limited to the most basic functions of locking and unlocking files and generating status updates. Dreamweaver CS5 extends compatibility with Subversion so you can move, copy and delete files locally and then sync the changes to your remote SVN repository. The new Revert command lets you quickly resolve tree conflicts or revert to a previous version of a file.
  9. Code hints for custom PHP classes
Dreamweaver CS5 provides advanced PHP code hinting on the fly by dynamically analyzing your PHP code and updating it as you type, even with code that hasn't yet been saved to disk. Dreamweaver CS5 dynamically highlights errors and provides alerts in the information bar so you can find and fix errors in your PHP code more efficiently.
  10. Site-Specific Code Hints
Site-specific code hints in Dreamweaver help you complete PHP coding tasks more efficiently on any site. Blog theme files and other custom PHP files and directories can be included (or excluded) to customize the Dreamweaver CS5 programming environment when working with third-party PHP libraries and CMS frameworks such as WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla. and other. For strong code hints, you can also specify files and even folders that are outside of the defined site root.
  11. Improved CSS starter layouts
Complex child selectors have been removed in favor of simplified, easy-to-understand classes, and the overall documentation structure has been revised. To ensure success with new designs, instructions and comments are included in both the CSS code and the body of the document.
  12. Easy site setup
To make setup faster and easier, the Site Definition dialog has been extensively redesigned, incorporating many improvements suggested by web designers and developers who use Dreamweaver regularly. You can start with as much detail as you want, even just a site name and local site folder, and Dreamweaver will prompt you for the remaining details if you need them when creating your site.
  13. Integration mit Business Catalyst
With the Adobe Business Catalyst® extension for Dreamweaver and Business Catalyst online service, you can deploy powerful online businesses without coding and at a fraction of the time and cost from your familiar Dreamweaver workspace. Business Catalyst is an online service that can replace up to five or more applications and tools with a single, centralized web designer platform that works hand-in-hand with Dreamweaver through the Business Catalyst Extension for Dreamweaver.

For people considering joining oursCurso DreamweaverCS3but have CS4 at home or in the office - most of the topics covered in our CS3 course are applicable to CS4 software. Certain commands or tools are found in different menu items and the user interface is slightly different. The two-day course is at the Getting Started level, so it covers the fundamentals common to all versions of Dreamweaver software. One unit taught in the CS3 course is the insertion of text/flash elements - this feature is not used in CS4.

The screen elements are located where they always were by default: the properties window at the bottom; the site archives and other panels on the right; the menu items at the top.

Here are 10 new features in Dreamweaver CS4 listed on the Adobe website. The endpoint is a list of deprecated functions:

  1. Live broadcast
With Dreamweaver CS4, you can use the new Live View to design your web pages under real browser conditions while retaining direct access to the code. Code changes are immediately reflected in the rendered screen.
  2. Code hints for Ajax and JavaScript frameworks
With improved support for core JavaScript objects and primitive data types, you can now write JavaScript faster and with more precision. You can also take advantage of Dreamweaver's advanced coding capabilities by integrating with popular JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, Prototype, and Adobe Spry.
  3. File browsers and associated codes
Dreamweaver CS4 allows you to efficiently manage the various files that make up today's web pages. Click a related file to view its source in Code view and parent page in Design view. The new code navigator feature shows you all code sources affecting your current selection, such as: B. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) rules, external JavaScript functions, Dreamweaver templates, iFrame source files, and more.
  4. editing in context
You can allow end users to make simple changes to your web pages without your help or additional software. As a Dreamweaver designer, you can quickly and easily restrict changes to specific pages, different regions, and even custom formatting options.
  5. CSS Best Practices
With Dreamweaver CS4's Property Inspector, you can create new CSS rules and provide clear, simple explanations of where each property fits in the style cascade.
  6. HTML records
You can bring the power of dynamic data into your web pages without the learning curve of mastering databases or XML (Extensible Markup Language) coding. Spry datasets recognize the contents of a simple HTML table as an interactive data source.
  7. Adobe Photoshop Smart Objects
Insert any Adobe Photoshop PSD document (PhotoshopData file) into Dreamweaver to create a Smart Object image. SmartObjects are tightly linked to the source file. Make changes to the source image and update your image in Dreamweaver without opening Photoshop.
  8. Subversion-Integration
Dreamweaver CS4 integrates Subversion software, an open source version control system, for a more robust check-in/check-out experience. Update your site and check in changes directly from Dreamweaver.
  9. New user interface
Work faster and smarter with all 4 Adobe Creative Suite components with a common user interface design. Quickly switch from one workspace to another with the Workspace Switcher. The user interface in CS4 has been redesigned. Dashboards are much more configurable than in previous versions.
  10. obsolete features
The following features are deprecated for Dreamweaver CS4:
    • timelines
    • Internet Services
    • Designmodus
    • Sitemap view
    • Java Bean support
    • Adobe® Flash Elements (image viewer)
    • Adobe® Flash text and Adobe® Flash buttons
    • ASP.NET and JSP server behavior and recordsets

What is the difference between Dreamweaver CS3 and Dreamweaver 8?

Dreamweaver CS3 (released in early 2007) took another step forward from Dreamweaver 8. One of the most anticipated features of CS3 is the integration of the Spry framework for Ajax. We think the most useful feature is the inclusion of a new set of CSS tools. The new CSStools include full support for CSS layouts. This layout format is now branded in the web design industry as stampedits as the primary format for website layouts, surpassing the old method of using tables. According to Adobe, here are the top 10 reasons to upgrade to Dreamweaver CS3:

  1. CSS-Layouts
As mentioned above, you can now easily style websites with CSS layouts. Adobe has added a variety of templates with full comments to get you started. Using CSS layouts gives you the ability to separate the layout from the content, making it easier to manage your website.
  2. CSS Advisor-Website
If you are having browser-specific issues with CSS, you can use the CSS Advisor site to find a solution. You can even add your own tips.
  3. CSS management
Easily move CSS across your legacy web pages, from inline to header, from header to external document, and from one document to another. All of this can be done via a context sensitive menu.
  4. Adobe-Integration
Photoshop, Fireworks and many other Adobe products are now fully integrated with Dreamweaver. For example, you can copy and paste directly from Photoshop into Dreamweaver. You can even edit your image in Photoshop, and if you save your changes, Dreamweaver will update the image on the web page with the new version. There is also full support for Contribute CS3.
  5. Marco Spry for Ajax
Visually design and develop dynamic user interfaces and tools with the Spry framework for Ajax. This tool adds interactivity but at the same time reduces page refreshes.
  6. spray effects
Quickly add visual page transitions to page elements. Allow elements to grow, shrink, fade, highlight and many more additional features.
  7. spray data
The data can be integrated in XML format from an RSS feed or a database. This data is easy to manage, for example you can sort or filter the data.
  8. Widgets by Spry.
Using Spry widgets, you can quickly and easily add common interface components such as tables, tabs, lists, repeatable regions, and form validation (client-side).
  9. Adobe DeviceCentral CS3
When you create a website for a mobile device, you can design, preview, and test the content on your mobile device with Adobe Device Central, now integrated with Adobe Creative Suite 3.
  10. Compatibility Checker
This feature was part of Dreamweaver 8, but now it's in a whole new form with full support for CSS styles. This saves you time checking your CSS layouts in Dreamweaver without having to open all the different web browsers.

What is the difference between Dreamweaver 8 and DreamweaverMX 2004?

Differences between Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Dreamweaver 8. Dreamweaver 8 (released September 2005) offers a wide range of new design and development tools, improved video support, efficient workflows, and support for the latest technologies and industry standards. Specific new features include the ability to integrate XML data with a powerful drag-and-drop workflow; a new zoom tool to control the layout; a new code collapse tool to focus on the code at hand; and the ability to add Flash videos with five mouse clicks. According to Adobe, here are the top 10 reasons to upgrade to Dreamweaver 8:

(Video) Dreamweaver - Tutorial for Beginners in 12 MINUTES! [ COMPLETE ]

  1. Drag-and-drop integration of XML data sources
Dreamweaver 8 does for XML and XSLT what Dreamweaver 1 did for HTML. Just point to an XML file or XML feed URL on any page, and Dreamweaver will validate it so you can drag and drop the appropriate fields onto the page. From there, access Code view to work with improved code hinting support for XML and XSLT. Take advantage of new XML and XSLT reference content.
  2. Take CSS-based design to the next level
The new unified CSS panel simplifies complex CSS. Learn CSS by reviewing the consolidated view and visual representation of the waterfall as it's applied to content for fast and powerful access. Know exactly where to make a change, pick and go; Stop searching for text files. To work with CSS for content positioning, the new CSS layout visualization provides design-time visual aids to quickly and easily inspect page structure. The Rendering Styles toolbar previews how pages will work with different CSS media types.
  3. Gain more control over the design
Expand layouts to debug complex layouts and verify images. Use guides to precisely position content on pages to improve accuracy between layouts and the finished product.
  4. Stay focused by reducing code
Focus only on the pieces of code you use and leave the rest aside. Selectively collapse and expand sections of code by selection or tag with code collapse.
  5. Stop chasing and keep working
No more searching through menus to find snippets and font formatting options. Access common coding operations right from Code view with the new coding toolbar. Take advantage of new features to support common code workflows like commenting and commenting code, wrapping tags, and showing hidden characters.
  6. Work while files are uploaded
Keep working with local files while Dreamweaver uploads files and syncs sites with the new background file transfer.
  7. Add flash video
Add Flash videos to websites in less than five clicks. Just point Dreamweaver at any Flash video file, choose the playback controls you want to appear on the page, and get started.
  8. Spend less time reformatting text
Stop fighting email content and Microsoft Word formats. With the new paste options in Dreamweaver, you can keep all the source formatting you created in Microsoft Word, or just take the text and apply the CSS you've already created.
  9. Work with the latest technologies including PHP 5 and ColdFusionMX 7
Dreamweaver keeps you current with updated server behaviors and code hints for PHP 5 and ColdFusion MX 7.
  10. improve rendering
Get a clearer picture of layouts and design in Dreamweaver. The design view in Dreamweaver 8 has been drastically improved to better support CSS rendering within the tool and allow for more accurate final designs.

  • What is the difference between Dreamweaver on Apple/Mac and PC/Windows?

There are minor differences between the Macintosh and Windows versions of Dreamweaver. The main difference is that the equivalent of a right-click on a Windows system is achieved with a control-click on the Macintosh. Also, web developers should be aware that web page text generally appears smaller on Windows systems than on Macs, while Mac web images are generally lighter than the same file on a Windows system.

Note for Macintosh users: When you open Dreamweaver, the Design, Code, Application, and Answers panel groups may not appear. If you need to open these groups, you can do so by selecting the appropriate categories from the Window menu.

You'll notice that the Window menu options don't include the names of the panel groups, they just list the categories that each group contains.

(Video) What You Get With the Different Dragonflight Preorder Versions

Note that the Macintosh version of Dreamweaver MX does not have a FilesPanel group. We can explain how files are managed and uploaded to your web server if you take a Macintosh Dreamweaver training course (which is usually only offered in a private, private or on-site setting).

There are other minor differences between the PC and Macintosh versions of Dreamweaver that our trainers are aware of and will point out during our Dreamweaver training courses.
